Every night I’m free, I put up a poll over on my Instagram and ask my followers which of the three VHS tapes I should watch. At the end of the year, all movies will be ranked. Here’s this week’s Rental Shelf Round-Up.
This week was a little bit of a jumble. I watched one movie from my shelf, A Working Man (2025) at the local theater, and then recorded the Video Archives Live event before heading out to Tennessee for the Southern Oasis Film Festival. While there, I watched I Walk the Line (1970) and re-watched the 4k film scan of The Rules of Attraction (2002). If you want to hear more about any of these movies, give me a holler.
March 30 - Pursuit (1972)
Funny story, but I actually purchased the wrong Pursuit the first time around on eBay, so this one took a little while to get to me. I kept that other tape, and in all honesty I kind of wish I watched that instead. Pursuit was largely boring. Martin Sheen shows up for a bit, but I can’t tell you what he does. I guess this is where Crichton got his feet wet as a director, but I’m glad he wasn’t judged solely on this movie. If I had done so, I wouldn’t have wanted to check out the rest.
